LOUISBURG COLLEGE, LOUISBURG, N.C. WELCOME FRESHMAN 111 Colons staff bids the h^O fresliinan welcome. Along with the fan tastic friends and good times one can make and have at Louisburg College will come seemingly frivolous demands from one’s roommate, resident counselors, and professors. But if one keeps an open mind, he will realize the college’s rules are established to protect and benefit the individual and most profes sors' assignments are given to accom plish the purposes of a particular course. Many freshman will feel a twinge of disappointment when they discover that the college cannot possibly pro vide all the comforts of home. One should not bemoan these situations to the degree that he overlooks Louis burg 's assets. The intramural program affords fun as well as the opportunity to meet people. Over a dozen active organizations are offered. The Humani ties courses gives one a chance to get out of the dorm and enjoy cultural events. Each freshman is encouraged to .join and actively participate in LC’s acti vities and events. Above all, freshmen and sophomores alike should keep in mind that what one gets out of his college experience is determined by what he puts into it, RESIDENT ASSISTANTS GET TRAINING On Saturday, August 19, resident counselors and assistants attended a workshop dealing with problems which freshmen and returning sophomores may encounter. The group was welcomed by Louis burg President J, Allen Norris, Jr. and Dean Craig Eller. Mr, Jim Belsches, psychology professor, led the group in a series of exercises beginning with group building. Human relations and critical incidents were also part of the counselors’ and assistants’ train*- ing. ARCHIVES fHE CECIL W.
